Twentieth German Champion Title for Sabine Spitz!!!
Over a distance of 77 km with 2200 meters of accent the maratone vice champion dominated the race on her new WIAWIS-Teambike.
During the long climb from Kirchzarten up to Hinterzarten she already could take out more than a minute from her rivals. From that moment on she controlled the race. Only during the last climb the vice champion Sikle Ulrich came dangerously close. At the last intermediate time the lead sank to 12 seconds. Even with Silke only a couple seconds behind Sabine stayed calm and kept the young rider on distance.
At the end she could sovereignly with with a riding time of 3:15:59 h with 18 seconds lead to Silke Ulrich. „I rode my rhythm during the first climb and could thereby ride out a advantage. After half of the distance I had to take out a bit, because cramps started to announce. To the end I did not want to risk anything.“
„Of course it is amazing to win my 20th German champion title today. The lookouts were not to good after some problems during the first world cups. Therefore it is more than nice if it even so works.“ Sabine Spitz now got the national title in Marathon and the Olympic Cross-Country. In the Marathon disciplin it is her 5th german champion title.
